Error: "Client found response content type of '' but expected 'text/xml'" when trying to run an SSRS report

When we try to open an SSRS report we are receiving the following: "Client found response content type of '' but expected 'text/xml'"

This issue has been caused due to the loss of connection details, to resolve this issue please do the following:

  1. Click Options

  2. Click System Maintenance

  3. Click System Settings

  4. Click General System Settings

  5. Click Control File

  6. Press F5 in the 'Control Item' field and search for 'SSRS_2010' and click on Select for this control flag, then press Enter

  7. Enter modify mode by pressing Ctrl + M

  8. Click on the drop down arrow in the 'Value' field and set this to 'Yes', click Exit

  9. Click Options

  10. Click System Maintenance

  11. Click Data Manager

  12. Click Database Maintenance

  13. Click SSRS Web Service URL

  14. Here you will need to enter your SSRS Web Server address which will look similar to this 'http://servername:54321/ReportsServer'. You will only need to enter your server name.

  15. Click OK
