I know I can add a decimal proportion of raw material to a BOM (albeit without the sheet size calculator). However, the requirement for the raw material that pulls through to the corresponding WO is rounded up to 1.
Is there any way to get this decimal requirement to pull through and then only issue part of the sheet raw material?
A solution to this would be extremely helpful in aiding our raw material costing and stock accuracy.
A customer has submitted an idea on the FM ideas portal. Whilst it is being assessed by the product team, please use the BI method of issuing a decimal proportion of the sheet metal:
To use the Sheet Size Calculator, put in the Part Dimensions into the relevant fields by clicking Part Dimensions within the Warehouse tab of the Stocked Parts screen for the part which is to be divided up.
Then, when adding the part to you Bill of Materials, switch to Modify mode using CTRL+M and press F5 on the ‘Quantity Required’ to go to the Sheet Size Calculator screen where the dimensions of the component can be entered.
By clicking on any relevant Gutter line (example, ‘No Top Gutter’) it is possible to set the size of the gutters. Also notice the option to make all the gutters equal.
Clicking Rotate Component will show if the part can be fitted more efficiently. Note: Take into account grain flow if necessary if the rotate component is being used.
Click OK to confirm the changes.
To have this information pull through to the Works Order components and the Job Costings it is necessary to set the Stock decimals to a relevant number. For example, if 0.038 for your part is used on a BOM, you’d need to set the stock decimal place to 3 decimals.
Once this is changed for a particular stocked part, it cannot be changed back. The number of decimals can only increase. This will then show correctly on the Works Order components and the Job Costings.
