How to prevent Sub-Works Orders from being generated?

We currently have large assemblies, and we would like to prevent sub-works orders from being created for each individual manufactured part.

There are two methods through which the creation of the Sub-Works Orders can be prevented. By doing this, the system will only create the parent Works Order that will contain all the items. If you wish the function to be changed across all parts, then you would follow the directions below:

  1. Go to Options.

  2. Select System Maintenance.

  3. Click on System Settings.

  4. Choose GENERAL System Settings.

  5. Select Control File.

  6. Search for the GENERATE_SUBWO control flag in the Control Item field.

  7. Go into modify mode by pressing CTRL and M.

  8. Set the value of this flag to No.

  9. When you press Exit, a window will appear asking if you wish to apply this change to all parts, press Yes. If you press No the change will only implement on any new parts you create after the fact.

Alternatively, if you only wish to change this setting on one or a selection of parts then you will need to follow these directions:

  1. Go to Stock.

  2. Select Stocked Parts Menu.

  3. Click on Stocked Parts.

  4. Choose the Manufacture tab.

  5. In the column Create WO change the value to MRP for the required parts.
