Overview

If you cannot export sales invoices due to the following error message:

Crystal Report error has occurred:

Report 'filepath ending with file .rpt' was not found.

The steps below should help you to resolve this.

How to stop the error from occurring

After copying the Crystal Report (.rpt) file from the old server to the new server, please complete the steps below:-

  1. Right-click the customised menu option to launch the Crystal report and select Edit Menu Option.

  2. Enter the correct file path in the Report Location field.

  3. Enter the file path, omitting the Crystal Report filename, into the Folder location.

  4. Enter the Crystal Report file name in the File Name field.

  5. Click OK.

How to change the file path if I am using a unique ERP system?

You may have to change the file path via a different method if they are using a unique ERP system e.g. Xero, which can be done by following the steps below:

  1. Select Options.

  2. System Maintenance.

  3. System Settings.

  4. General System Settings.

  5. Accounting Package Details.

  6. Select User Defined.

  7. Click Options.

  8. Click the Sales Export Files chevron button.

  9. Click into Report Path and press F5.

  10. Enter the new file path and click Open.

  11. Click OK.

What was the cause of this error?

The Crystal Report may not open as the file path was putting '??0' at the end of it on some PC's. This was caused by the offending PC's using the wrong Unicode as the ?? were replacing the Pilcrow symbol.

The difference on the affected PC's was an option in their region settings that was a beta tick box which reads 'Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support' - unticking this resolved the issue.
