What's new?
Welcome to the release notes for FactoryMaster v20.33. This version contains some great new features and enhancements, helping you to get the most from your software.
The following major features are included in this release.
SYSTEM
API User Access
FactoryMaster API has been updated to support user access, allowing for granular control over which views and facilities an API user can access.
API users can be assigned user access codes in one of two ways:
When an API user's email address exactly matches the email address associated with a FactoryMaster user (shown in BLUE in the API user list), the user access of that associated FactoryMaster user will be used.
When an API user's email address does NOT match, the API user will have their own user access profile, where user access codes can be assigned via the new 'Access' button within the API users list.
Note: This only applies to API users whose email address does NOT match a FactoryMaster user. Any such API users created BEFORE this version have been automatically assigned access to all user access codes as part of the conversion to this version, as they would previously have had unrestricted user access. Any such API users created AFTER this version will default to NO user access, and access will have to be assigned MANUALLY.
Note: ALL API users are able to view ALL available endpoints, but those endpoints may refuse to provide results if the API user does not have the required access rights.
Record Locks
Certain areas of the system (for example, purchase orders) only allow a single user to enter a record in 'modify' mode at any one time.
Occasionally, if that user lost connection to the server, the record could remain 'locked' to them, even if they were no longer editing it.
A new option has been added to the 'System Maintenance / Data Manager' menu to allow an administrator to view and, if necessary, clear these locks.
New 'ActionBar'
A new 'ActionBar' has been added to a number of maintenance screens.
This is a new screen design intended to standardise where common actions are found on screens, and to reduce the 'clutter' of buttons at the bottom of some screens.
The buttons on the LEFT hand side of the screen refer to the current, highlighted record. From here it is possible to:
view or edit the current record
add a new record
delete the current record
print the current record
perform other actions on the current record (opens a menu of options)
The buttons on the RIGHT hand side of the screen refer to the screen in general. From here it is possible to:
open the reports menu
view a menu of other screen options
change the sort order of the screen
The screens currently using this new design are:
Proforma Maintenance
Quotation Request Maintenance
Release Note Maintenance
Picklist Maintenance
Manufacturing Route Maintenance
Incident Log Maintenance
User List
Internal Reject Maintenance
Note: Not all buttons are enabled on all screens.
PURCHASE
Purchase Orders for 'In Development' Stocked Parts
A new control flag, 'PO_ALLOW_IN_DEV', has been added to allow purchase orders to be raised for 'In Development' stocked parts.
STOCK
Configurable Part Assemblies
An 'Operation Number' can now be entered against 'CP' components on a configurable part assembly, and also against each option under a 'CO' component.
PRODUCTION
Manufacturing Route Maintenance
The following options on this screen now require the user to have 'Modify' access to 'Manufacturing Instructions'. These were previously available to users who had only been given 'View' access:
Apply Default Lead Times
Calculate Lead Times
Route Time Calculation
Works Order Earliest Start Dates
It has always been possible to manually enter an 'earliest start date' against a works order. This has now been made more visible by adding a toggle on the 'date required' column in the 'Works Order Enquiry' screen.
It is now also possible to (optionally) enter this date when creating a new works order from this screen.
A new option has been added to the 'MRP' and 'Forecast Stock' screens to base the requirement date of any outstanding works order components on this 'Earliest Start Date'.
A help button (labelled '?') has been added next to the option to explain how it works.
QUALITY
Internal Rejects
It is now possible to optionally enter a 'department code' on an internal reject. This has also been added to the table and QuickBar of the maintenance screen, as a new tag on the RTF reject note, and to the export of the report.
EMPLOYEE
H&S Incident Log
It is now possible to optionally enter a 'department code' and 'secondary incident type' on a log. These have also been added to the table and QuickBar of the maintenance screen, and to the export of the report.
GENERAL

The following new user views have been created. As with other user views, these options have also been added to the 'Export Manager' and to the 'API':

'vFM_USER_ACCESS' - a view showing all users and the system areas they have access to
