FactoryMaster allows the setup and administration of skills. To do this:

  1. Go to the Employee tab.

  2. Select Employee Skills Maintenance and from there, a new screen is displayed.

  3. Pressing <F4> allows the entry of new entries.

  4. Pressing <F5> on the employee code to find the right employee.

  5. Press <F5> on the Skill Code to choose the relevant skill that is being assessed. With <F4> it is possible to add new ones in here.

  6. Then choose the relevant training type.

  7. If Internal is chosen, then "Trained By" is a free text field. If External is chosen, then a Supplier is required.

  8. The retest date can be put in, notes added and also a document (possibly a scan of the certificate) can be added using the other columns

Using skills on the Resource Maintenance page

  1. First, the DC_CHECK_SKILLS control flag has to be set to allow the skills to have an effect on resources.

  2. Then on the right-hand side, click on the orange bar above the final column to choose the relevant option.

  3. Press <Ctrl + M> first to go into modify mode (if that hasn't already been done).

  4. Now press <F5> on the relevant resource (the cursor needs to be in the last column).

  5. It is possible to set up different requirements for the Setup and the OP itself.

  6. When they are all set up, it will stop employees from logging onto resources that are set to require skills but which they are not qualified for.

Note! When put onto a Works Order, the skills are kept on the operation and not the resource – this means that if the resource on the op is changed, it will retain the skills required for that original resource. It may be necessary to delete the Op and add it in again to clear this requirement.
