To set up a component to have it's serial number inherited by the top level part, please do the following:

Search for your Top-level Part and click Options

Press CTRL + M to enter modify mode

Press F5 on the 'Serial No's' column

Tick the 'Inherit from component:' box and select the component

1. Go to Stock
2. Click Stocked Parts Menu
3. Click Stocked Parts Maintenance
4. Search for your Top-level Part and click Options
5. Press CTRL + M to enter modify mode
6. Press F5 on the 'Serial No's' column
7. Tick the 'Inherit from component:' box and select the component
8. Click Close

Our top-level part numbers are not inheriting a serial number from a component on the assembly.
