Change a part or component quantity required to a decimal value

When I put a bought in item in a manufactured part, say 2.5 metres of material, when I come to issue the material on that manufactured part, I has rounded the material to 3m and not 2.5 m. I need to know how to change the rounding of the decimal values.

To change a component quantity required to a decimal value:

Note: Once the number of decimal places for a Stocked Part assembly has been increased, they cannot be decreased.

  1. In FactoryMaster, click Stock, Stocked Parts Menu, Stocked Parts

  2. Find the part that requires the number of decimals for the assembly to be increased using the QuickBar.

  3. Click Summary or press the F6 key.

  4. Switch to Modify mode, press the CTRL+M keys.

  5. Change the number against the Assembly: entry up to a maximum of 5.

  6. Click OK

  7. Users will then receive a warning advising that they cannot decrease the number of decimal places after the increase. To make the change, click Yes.

Decimals – Stock - It is possible to stock part numbers in decimal quantities, E.g. If one of a pack of six is used (and the part number refers to the pack of six). Most part numbers can only be used in integer quantities.
Caution! The number of decimal places for a part can be increased but not decreased! Where decimals are used, reports will generally show values using all the available decimal places (E.g. the number 2.5 will display to 4 decimal places as 2.5000). Be sure to consider an upward decimal place movement very carefully as this change is irreversible.

Decimals – Assembly - The default number of decimal places shown on the Assembly Maintenance / Bill of Materials is 3. This figure can be increased to cater to a greater number of decimals.
