The emailing of system notifications to internal users uses a direct SMTP connection on port TCP 25 to the email server. Please note that mails can only be sent to internal email addresses. FactoryMaster can use following to send emails:
Anonymous SMTP connections
Plain text authentication SMTP
Note: FactoryMaster cannot communicate with Authenticated SMTP server over SSL.
For Office 365, you may need to configure a receiver connector on the Office 365 server to communicate with the internal email setup with FactoryMaster.
Configure system email settings by selecting the following:
Options
System Maintenance
System Settings
System Message Recipients
Click Email Setup
Enter the details of your SMTP server
If your server accepts anonymous SMTP connections from the local network, you don’t need to enter a username and password.
Click Test Connection.
Click OK and if Test Successful, select the tab Email Message Test
Enter a valid, internal email address and click Send Test Email.
Check your email
NOTE: If your server doesn’t support anonymous SMTP email on the local network, but does accept plain text authentication, you will need to enter valid credentials for the “default sending account” email address. Email servers usually accept anonymous SMTP connections from external connections. You could try configuring the “Server Name/Location” to be your fixed external IP address, with no username and password, to see if your email server will accept these messages.
If the email notification stops working after a certain time (e.g. 21:00) the firewall is blocking the system emails and would need unblocking by your IT.
