Given the current situation regarding COVID-19 we have had a lot of enquiries about using FactoryMaster remotely, and how best to achieve this. Below are our recommendations on how to do this in most cost-effective way.
The best solution for FactoryMaster is to use Remote Desktop, and you may not know that it’s possible to use Microsoft’s Remote Desktop server for free, for an evaluation period of 90 days. During this period your users could connect to the FactoryMaster software remotely and carry out all their normal functions with no loss of performance. Below are the required steps to achieve this, if you do not have in-house I.T. knowledge then please forward to your 3rd party provider.
Provision a Remote Desktop Server to these specs
1 Virtual CPU per user
2gb RAM per user
50gb Disk Space overall
Setup Remote Desktop Server
Install Windows Server O/S
Install Remote Desktop services/roles
Join Server to the Domain
Install FactoryMaster
Install Application on Remote Desktop Server
Configure Firewall (Part 3389 for direct connection to server)
Publish Remote Application – Meaning your users can only access FactoryMaster, not the entire server
Publish FactoryMaster as a Remote App
Publish https connection
Specify Individual Windows Users
Setup Remote Apps on each users PC/Laptop
We hope this information is useful in helping you get setup for remote working, and if you have the technical knowledge available then this can all be carried out without input from us. However we can offer some assistance if required
Steps 1 & 2 are infrastructure changes that would definitely need to be carried out by yourself or your I.T. provider, but Access can offer to carry out steps 3 & 4 remotely for a fixed charge of £500. We currently have capacity to offer assistance within 7 days.
