Moving all stock in a location into another location at once

One of my locations is having renovations done to it. Is there a way I can move all of the stock in that location into another one without having to do each item manually?

If you do not have a huge number of parts within a location you can do this by creating a movement note. Follow the link 'here' if you do not know how to do this. At step 6 you can use the quick bar to search by location.

If you have hundreds of parts in the location it is considerably quicker to do this by using the export manager to export a list of stock in a certain location, and then use the import manager to create a movement note for all the items. If you need help using either of these tools please click on the links attached to each respectively.

Export

  • In the export manager go into Stock - Stocked Parts and open the Stock by Location export

  • Use the ranges menu to only include the location you wish to vacate

  • At the export field screen, you will need to include

    • Batch Unique (NOT Batch Number)

    • Location

    • Part Number

    • Qty in stock

  • Export and save to a location you can access

Once you have the file created, you will need to open in using excel and add in columns. This can be done by copying and pasting into all the applicable rows. See below for the columns you will need to add manually, these will be in Bold.

Import

  • In the import manager go into Stock - Stocked Parts and open the Stock movement notes import.

  • You will need to match the following fields in your export to the fields as below

    • TARGET LOCATION - New location

    • PART NUMBER - Part Number

    • QUANTITY TO MOVE - Qty in stock

    • Source Location - Location

    • Batch Unique - Batch Unique

  • Note: The important will not work for lines where there are allocations, as these are not deemed to be 'Available'

Movement note

The import will create a movement note, that movement note will then need to be printed and confirmed in order to move the stock within FactoryMaster. If you need assistance in accessing, printing and confirming the movement note you can find details on how to do this 'here'
