There are two ways of automatically running the transaction broker:

  1. One which runs all the time.

  2. One that runs during idle time.

The one that runs all the time is a chargeable extra and it also uses an FM licence. This is a real-time option though and so the system will always show up-to-date information. The idle time one only runs when somebody is not actively using the system.

Real-time Transaction Broker

To set this up, enable the Broker User option, which as already stated is a chargeable extra (contact the Account Manager for details). This is found by:

  1. Clicking on Options.

  2. Select System Maintenance.

  3. Click on Enable Additional Options.

  4. Select Enable System Options.

  5. Enable Broker User

  6. And a password will be required from Support.

Once that has been enabled, the next step is to set up the Broker User, any acceptable Login Name and Full Name can be used and then choose the Broker Access Type:

The idle-time Transaction broker

If the user has not enabled the Transaction broker service, then there is a Transaction Broker job. This runs during system idle time and so is not real-time. To set it up, just add it and it will run when there is nobody actively using the system but still logged on:

  1. Click on Options

  2. Click on System Maintenance

  3. Go to Scheduled Programs

  4. Click on the "Add" button at the bottom left and then choose the Transaction Broker program, and click on the Add button in the top window at the bottom right of this window:

Setting up the TB to automatically process CSV files
For both of the above methods, it is necessary to define a folder where the TB will read CSV files from. If a .csv file is placed in that folder then the data from it will be imported.

To set up the folder that the Transaction Broker takes CSV’s from, please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to the General tab.

  2. Select Transaction Broker.

  3. Select Import from CSV folder

  4. Then F5 in the box to define the folder.

  5. Then press F5 from the location box.

  6. That will then run and process the transactions when the system is idle.

To install the new broker service that is always running in the background, Please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.
